The Mobile Phone Number Porting Service is an added benefit for mobile phone subscribers wishing to change their subscriptions while holding on to their current phone numbers. Port Access Kenya, is owned by PortingXS International, a Netherlands-based firm. The firm has already been supplying services of the same kinds to different countries and is eyeing to get this contract with Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA). Port Access Kenya is the operator of Ghana's Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service.
The same porting access service in Kenya was implemented last year by the Communications Commission Kenya. While the same services were encouraged and created, a positive response to most countries, Kenyan mobile operators and subscribers showed little interest in Mobile Number Portability implementation in Kenya.
